Making the most of WSD’s waterfront means lots of wet and wild water activities. Boating, Swimming, Knee Boarding, Tubing, Banan Boats, Wake Boarding, Water Skiing, Water Slides, and the Water Trampoline are just some examples of our many water activities.
Everyone in the pool! All children at WSD swim twice a day in our three in-ground heated pools—once for instruction and once for recreation. The daily instructional swim is led by certified Water Safety Instructors and lifeguards. It is conducted in small groups.
Our goal is for every child to become a strong swimmer. American Red Cross certified swim staff, who are sensitive to children’s special needs, lead the swim lessons. Three heated pools, each designed for a specific swim level and age group, allow for optimal safety, supervision, and personalized attention. Children participate in the American Red Cross Learn. To Swim Program. Children become great swimmers because of the expert instruction in the Red Cross Program. There is a small student-to-instructor ratio. Red Cross swim cards are distributed at the end of the summer to children who have earned them.
Limited private swim lessons are available after hours. Lessons are available on a first come, first serve basis for a nominal fee. For more information about swim lessons, please contact us at 914-698-8900 ext. 153.
